The question is what's the size of these stats. With the barrel on the Renault 5/9 stat it is more easier to press it into a smaller hose than a flanged ordinary stat. Think the 5 stat is only £2 or £3. Who's for buying one to find out.

I did pay €12,- for the 43.5 mm Renault 5 thermostat
But that was at a usually expensive autoparts store around the corner.

- 43.5 mm is without the rolled lip, even with the lip the QH goes in ok !

Just a thought QinteQ...Like the time someone mentioned Cambelt renewal locking tools for £26 odds...Well I had to even though its been renewed on mine.
I'm tempted to buy stat...really...

Get the QH because it is known to work, a thinnest finger-slaver of fairy liquid and it 'fettles' in the hole no problem mate.

Done the renault 5 mod to mines. Drilled a couple of small holes in it to prevent an airlock (1mm I think) and it's worked a treat.
Car gets up to 1/2 temp in around 3-4 miles and sits there.
