Default Exhaust System

I have a 2004 3.8l T&C.

The exhaust system is one complete piece from tail to manifold with welds before and after the muffler under the passenger seat.

The pipe entering at the rear of the muffler is loose and now starting to rattle. Whats the best way to fix this.

Get someone to weld round the pipe where it enters the muffler?

Cut the old muffler out and weld in another as it currently is?

Cut the old muffler out and fit a new one one slipped on with clamps?

Buy an entire new system?

Any advice or suggestions appreciated

Default Exhaust Work.

Hi Redtex, Come to think of it the rear Muffler on my 03 CRD has holes on the outside skin. Repair here would be to roll a piece of steel into a tube and after clamping over Muffler, weld it in place.
Mig welding I can only say Might do, but depends on thickness of Muffler, because if its thin steel it will just Blow away. Might be a gas weld job.
What I'm getting at here is welding exhausts can sometimes be a waste of time. Take it to a Blacksmiths and their likely to look at you as if you have a hole in your head. Unless you know a friend who can do it.
Mind you, Exhausts are getting a bit pricy these days, at Exhaust centres they cost £x's, but from a Motorfactor it will be £x's minus £100 but you fit. E-Bay has them as well, usually from Latvia, but this seems to be where Chrysler are getting things made.
Other option, just thought of this, from a breaker, breaking a whole car, it might have had a new one fitted recently.
There is also some places where you can get a system made up that will come in parts.
Got same problem to sort.
Goggs,

There are plenty of aftermarket companies that make direct fit mufflers and pipes for exactly this situation.
