Default Fuel consumption help please

Hi guys

my fuel consumption seems to be really high, I haven't had the car that long so am not sure what it actually performs like but put £50 in the other day was around 3/4 of a tank ish, told me around 280 miles left, now the light has come on, I've done 135 miles with 47 miles to go???? It just doesn't seem to be that good???

What can cause this???

Thanks

Its good at times to occasionally hit the refresh button, this will give you proper readings of mpg, dte.

What MPG are you getting? and as mentioned above, reset your MPG counter every fill or 2 to get a more accurate indication.

In my 2007 T C touring 3.8 I get at best(flat roads and hanging at 65) 33.whatever. With slight hills and such it gets anywhere from 23 to 29, all depending on grade of hill. As i mention in another forum I thought something was wrong with the display, giving me wrong info but after doing the math while on my last trip, its true. I also thought a prior owner had done something to the engine/electronics to better the mpg but someone told me that cant happen.

hi gents, thanks for the replys, i ahve been resetting the MPG reading when i filled up, im averageing 23-26 MPG around town, so it doesnt seem low but £50 just didnt seem to get a lot of MPG?? i took the air filter out last night it was clogged with some sort of paper town suck in there and a small screwdriver?? not sure how of when they got in there as the filter shows signs of not being changed or cleaned in possibly 2 year or more?

just didnt know what the average MPG should be or if there was a common problem with them??

Just checked and it's the 2.8 CRD you've got?
I've the 2.5 CRD and I normally averaged 33 MPG but just now it can be as low as 25. Although I've got a leaking injector right now which probably wont help.
Round here diesels about £1.44 a litre so between getting less for your £ and the weather, you might just be noticing it more.
Normally run Biodiesel, ran out a few weeks ago and put over £100 in mines in a fortnight. Broke my heart.

Default Mpg.

i've just covered 200 miles on £40 @£1.44/ltr. in my Voyager LTD 2.5CRD. Haven't got round to working it out yet, right enough should have reset the MPG counter. 100mls steady 60mph. 15mls urban and 85mls @70mph motorway...
70mph motorway, well I do try to get as many mls to gallon as I can, as I do about 160mls per week.

± 39 mpg @ ≈ 80mph motorway runs
± 33.9 mpg @ mixed 70 mph and around the area including town work 20-30 mph
± 54 mpg @ a fixed 50 mph 'cruise control' experiment over 33 miles

NOTE : Bog standard cheapest Shell diesel pump used

Default Mpg

Today mpg reset, cruise at 60mph, 41.7mpg showing so looks like QinteQ, we have a possible +50mpg issue...
God it was bad enough doing 60mph, everybody passing you probably thinking, "look at them in that big car, can't afford fuel". But 50mph cruise, need to wear a face mask...
Goggs..
