Hello everyone:


I am a new member that just bought a 2009 Chrysler T&C. It has the MyGig REN radio and single overhead flipdown screen.


The radio works fine except that any CD or DVD put into it doesn't play and the radio displays ..reading. One time, a CD eventually started playing for a few seconds and then stopped.


I found out how to eject the discs (3-button method), but I would like to get the CD/DVD working.


has anyone run into this problem? I am an electrical engineer, so I don't have a problem disassembling it to fix it. I am assuming the CD/DVD player section needs to be replaced. Has anyone done this? Are parts available, or do I need to buy a used radio for the parts?


Also, should I try a cleaner disc first (in case there is dirt on the reader)?


Finally, should I try the software upgrades that are available?

I don't have any experience of your particular unit but I do know that the first thing to do when Cd's or DVD's start to give playback problems is to clean the lens on the laser. You could try a cleaning disc first, I've had limited success with this method, so I usually resort to cleaning with a soft pad dipped in alcohol.

A software upgrade is always worthwhile, especially if you have any other glitches with your unit.
