Default PentaStar Oil Plug

Usually I take it to the shop for an oil change. But today, I am changing the oil on my PentaStar 3.6 V6. However I cannot get the plug off. I am using a 13mm box wrench and turning the plug to the left. It won't budge. Any ideas why it is this tight? I am afraid of stripping it. Thank you.

To avoid stripping the head use a 6 sided hex socket. As to it not coming off, must have been over tightened, surely they don't gun them on. Likely you will get a loud crack when it does go.

Spray some WD40 on the thread if you can! Wait an hour or so and have a go! An impact gun, like a battery Snap-On will get it off if after you've tried a long breaker bar on it doesn't! Just go easy on it! I usually find that a rubber mallet hitting the breaker bar works for me! If not! Out comes the 18v Snap-on.

Agreed with TimmyTim. I had to use a mallet and breaker bar with a squirt of wd40 to undo my sump plug yesterday. Obviously just make sure you have the exact fit socket. You don't want to round it of. A small amount of copper slip wouldn't hurt when you reinstall as long as you torque it up correctly.
