Default Rear Defroster Turns off blower and radio

I recently installed an aftermarket radio I purchased from Crutchfield, and since then when I turn on the rear window defroster, the HVAC blower will turn off, and the radio will turn off. I've verified that I haven't crossed any wires in my installation. It only happens occasionally, and only when it is cold out. If it is warm out and I turn on the defroster, everything works fine. It is the automatic temp system. I was thinking about replacing the controls, but I thought I would ask the community here what your thoughts are?

I'm just confused why it is an intermittant issue. The radio was connected using a wire harness. There was no cutting of any wires during the radio install.

I also forgot to mention that the control for directing the air location (i.e. floor, vent, front defrost) will change settings. What I mean is that if I have the **** set to direct the air flow to the floor, it will some times change from the floor to the vent even though the light on the dial is still showig that it should be coming from the floor. Could something within the control unit be shorted that is causing these wierd issues?
