I've had this car when I got it and my last car where I had to whack the tyre with a big stick to free the alloy from the disc. Would certainly confuse some people on why the wheels not falling off after removing the nuts/studs. Second emergency service comes to mind. Or is that the third.

One of the covers for the wheel lugs has become worn. (seperate issue from bleed valvle similar problem). Any ideas. It really makes me wonder whow poorly the previous owner looked after the car

Chrome cover over the wheel nut you mean. 19mm socket with it on and 18mm when its missing. I've one missing. Prob breaker for this.

The tire shop impact wrenches tear them up. I can take them on and off all day with my star wrench.....

I ran a shop once 350 company services per month. I invented a new company department signed for procedure. Anyone using impact and not finishing [camera'd] with a 'supplied' old school toque wrench was instant dismissal. Use good practice or seek instant re-employment elsewhere.

Nice..... Too bad most places dont follow such rules. I've seen too many tire shop employees blast one or two lug nuts on all the way tight without even making sure the rest will properly seat. THATS how you ruin the rotors.....and thats why I stand out there watching them work on my vehicles.
