Default Town and Country lifter orientation

After putting everything back together in my 2004 T and C 3.3 I noticed the old lifters have a small hole on the side of the lifter, but only one. Does the orientation matter? Please tell me it doesn't.

Take it back apart. You may be able to use a gear wrench to get the retainers out, then you can just spin them around. I haven't done one wrong in a while and can't remember for sure.
Install the hydraulic lifters with the lubrication hole facing upward towards middle of block

Thank you. Not what I was hoping to hear, but would rather know. Does the oil come out of the hole and lube the lifter wall? Or is the oil fed through there from the lifter wall?

Also I saw in the work shop manuel that they show a pic of the lifter with the side hole on the side and not the way my old lifters are?
