can anyone tell me if i can take a 2001 t&c transmission and put it into a 2004?

2001 has the seperate PCM and TCM. 2004 has the single box NGC replacing the PCM and TCM. I would think there would be some daunting electrical issues to overcome.

I suspected there would be control issues here. Microprocessor programs can be different even if the mechanical stuff is identical. Datacoms between processors can also be a different format, different speed. Because manufacturers don't always tell you about minor changes, even the same item, same make model, year etc. cannot be guaranteed to be "swappable". It's very much a 'suck-it-and see' process, which may involve you in hundreds of man-hours work plus a lot of money, with no guarantee of a result at the end. This is why a processor board usually has a "software version number" on it -- this applies universally, not just modern motor vehicles.

So Nighthawk, if your present box is faulty/worn, it might make more sense to fix it if the vehicle is worth it.

same 41TE trans only difference is the flywheel which u will not remove the NGC is for the Engine cam and crank sensor just happens the TCM is built into it that's all.
