Question uk-stereo problem-grand voyager 52reg

hi there im having an issue with my stereo so any help will be very greatful.
My stereo isnt a boston/infinity (well there is nothing on the speaker covers to say so)
Im trying to fit an aftermarket stereo to my 2002 52 reg grandvoyager i bought all the stuff facia adapter ariel adapter and iso lead.
now i connected all the leads but this is where my problem starts i get power to the stereo but no sound at all does anyone know why this is?
I know the stereo works it was working when i took it out of my old car and tried it in another car since ive had this problem to make sure it its not the stereo ive also tried another stereo and still no sound,so thats two stereos (1.jvc 2.sony) both get power but no sound from my speakers at all please help me out if you can.
Is there an amplifier there if so is there a lead that i can get to power my speakers?
many thanks russell

Hi Russell,

By the sounds of it your new stereo isn't powering the on-board amplifier, so you're not getting audio out. The speaker system in the cars is quite complex and has a lot of speakers to power so they have an amp hidden away that needs power from the head unit.

Do a forum search and you'll find numerous problems relating to this, and a few solutions on how to power the amp separately, or to find the powered output (normally for electric aerials, etc) from your new head unit to connect up.
