Default 2000 chrysler cirrus. No start

Just bought a used Chrysler Cirrus about 4 weeks ago. Has 200K+ miles but ran great. Just last Friday while on the freeway the car started lurching like it was missfiring or not getting gas. The check engine light came on, I started to get off the road and the oil light came on. I checked the oil and it was low but not out. I put in a quart and tried to start the car but all it did was turn over but wouldn't start. 200 dollars later I got the thing home. My father and I suspected that it was the fuel pump. Finally found the damn thing and it was working just fine. We move onto the Fuel filter and just replaced it. The car still won't start. We are at our wits end. Any suggestions? I'm calling the dealership first thing tomorrow so see if they can help. Bought it As Is but darnit if I didn't pay 3K and I havn't gotten 3K worth of a car.

Spark plugs are fine.

I don't know what you mean by "dis or crank sen".

I think he mean distributor or crank sensor. If the check engine light came on thats a good
start, do you know someone with a hand held computer to read the fault ?

If not start with the basics - is it getting air - fuel - ignition.

Start with the easy stuff - check the condition of the rotor, the inside
of the distributor cap, examine the spark plug wires into the distributor cap, one
at a time, are they rotted ?

After ALOT of research and asking around from various mechanics I found the problem was the timing belt and a serpentine belt. got it fixed by a local mechanic for about $400.
