Default 96 Cirrus Problem - Please Help!!

I have a 96 cirrus that has been giving me a lot of trouble. One minute it turns over but won't start then I wait about 5 minutes and when I turn the key it starts right away. I don't know what to do or what to check for. I have asked several people but they say they have never heard of a vehicle doing this. Please Help!!!

I am an owner giving you some bits of adivce I'mnot an expert. You should always state which engine and milage and what you or the shop have done so far.

If it's a 2.5 V6 Mitsubishi engine with any amount of milesit's likely a bad crank position sensor, i had a simmilar issue and it kept getting worse and it would even die whn driving most often re-starting immedialty.then as it got worse it would usually take longer to re-start. but very intermittent.
replaced crank sensor it was like 60 -70 bucks aftermarket and all was well.

Is there a check engine light on?
ti could be other things like even a bad fuel pump. but usually they either work or they don't.
They have had some distributor issues as well , that may POSSIBLY be an issue.
and it could be otehr stuff as well.

When it's failed You can take an extra sprak plug open the hood and pull a wire attach the plug and ground it Hopefully a second person is with or it's dark enough and you cancrank the engine to see if it has spark. if it doesn't you'll at least know it's not a fuel pump pressure regulator ( i believe your pump & regare the in the tank just like mine on the 2.5 engine cars)
then you are still at square one crank sensorNot sure your is a CAM sensor on your car( ione in the same function? )and other ignition stuff I don't know a lot about the 2.4 engine ,,,i have two 2.5 engine CARS I havedone an amount of repairs & troubleshootinglearning experiance,
good luck maybe other folks will chime in to help
