Default Transmission Problem 1997 cirrus

Car: 1997 Chrysler Cirrus LXI
Engine: 2.5L v6
Trans: 41TE Auto
Mileage: 48k

After getting everything settled after fixing my Power Steering problems, freeze plugs (ones behind tranny too), and the like I have a new issues. Before I get to that I do have to mention that I installed the torque converter without seating it the first time around and had to pull everything back out (not used to autos).

The first thing that's happening is that at idle I have a ticking sound I'm pretty sure is coming from the torque converter area.

The second thing is that I took it for a test drive to be able to get the transmission warm and check the fluid level because I thought the ticking would work itself out. After about 10 miles I lost all power to the wheels and had a nasty whining sound that varied with engine speed that stayed even when it occasionally grabbed while I was trying to get it back home.

Got the car home and went to start the car about 2 hrs later after it cooled off and it went straight into drive and reverse without any kind of harshness.

My guess is the Transmission pump because it's the only thing rotating at idle, if the fluid gets to hot the trans does have a safe mode to protect it.

Any response it appreciated!

All good, needs a rebuild, pretty sure I broke a friction plate when I smushed em together (pieces of it inside the pump screens). I highly doubt any particles got anywhere but I'm getting a reman and rebuilding/ cleaning this one.

Also according to a master tech: he said if he remember correctly these transmissions spins more than the pump and TC at idle.

DON'T FORGET TO SEAT YOUR TORQUE CONVERTORS!
