Default 2000 Cirrus Lxi wont rev past 3500 rpm

Hi, I have a 2000 Cirrus Lxi 2.5l v6 that will not rev above 3500 rpm when driving. I can sneak past it giving part throttle, but if I stomp it, it bogs down and trans wont shift. it will also do it going up hill. I've measured intake vac in park at 2500 rpm, it reads between 18 and 20 psi. I've measured the exhaust back pressure in park at 2500 rpm and it reads 2 psi. When in park, it will easily rev past 5000 rpm. Cleaned egr applied vac and it appears to be operating correctly. Occassionally get a code for rich fuel mixture (exact code number escapes me right now). Oh, and under hard acceleration, it blows the hose off of the egr on the exhaust side. Fuel mileage has gone down the crapper too.

Thanks

Remove the upstream o2 sensor(s)...The ones before the cat. Take it for a spin....Its gonna make noise, its gonna set a CEL , And it isnt gonna run perfect....But see if there is a noticeable difference.......Im thinking plugged converter.

Thumbs up

Cat was trashed. I couldn't get the nuts on the flange off, so I just cut the converter out. Waiting for a new converter, in the mean time I installed a flex pipe. Car runs fine.
