Aftermarket remote start and non Sentry key
Hello Gents,
I have an '09 Aspen that has a Python system in it with remote start. We were only given one Sentry key with the truck and one Python FOB.
Is the on board security system bypassed when an aftermarket system is installed?
I want to have a second key made but just a plain key. I am wondering if a plain key will work if the truck is started using an aftermarket remote start.
Anybody have experience with keys and aftermarket security systems?
Thanks,
JT

I had a plain key cut today and did some experiments.
If I start with the remote start and use the plain key it will stay running and I can drive. However, the red light on the instrument panel for the factory alarm flashes the whole time.
If I start the engine with the plain key it dies after 2 seconds like it is supposed to.
