im new here and never messed with fuel injectors before.
ok, i have a 1990 chrysler tc by mazerati. i pulled the fuel injectors and they are toast. i can not afford new or rebuilt ones so i went to a junkyard and pulled some replacements. they came from the same chrysler 3.0 but from a minivan.
my question is:
shoudnt these be the same injector even though they have diffent numbers on them?
from the TC: MD 18224..........INP-010
from the minivan MD158484.......IMP-066
bonus question:
is there a serviceable screen filter at the inlet that can be removed and cleaned?
thanks for your help?

HOLD UP...you may have a miss if you install them. The 3.0L had 3 or 4 different injectors in that time period. Call a dealer and see if he can cross some part numbers or if his catalog PN supercedes to a different number.
i would love to take this car to a dealer but i dont have deep pockets. theres towing, labor and parts to go that route.
i just talked to local dealer and he says hes pretty sure the used injectors i got will not be proper to install. the ones i got are from a 92 3.0 and are different somehow. they did give me a list of part numbers from original through superceeded numbers. as long as they come from a 90 or 91 3.0 and match one of the part numbers they should be ok.
my old part number:
MD 18224
original part listed number:
MD 141131
current part number:
MD 156661
other part numbers that will ok:
MD 132249
MD 116218
MD 116219
MD 157740
they had about 8 dodge minivans and a lebaron so im going back to see what i can find and swap the parts if i find the right ones.
Hey hotsauce I dug throuhg the old recall books today but didn't find it. Even IF the recall is still valid who knows if they even have any of them somewhere. I'll check again Friday when we're slow at the shop.
alright i went back to the junkyard to try and find injectors from a 90 or 91 3.0 to get the proper injectors. no luck.
i called local chrysler dealer again and got a more experienced person. basically if i didnt find any with one of the part numbers listed i would NOT be using the proper injectors.
sooooo,
i had to abandon the search for the day. i have found online at parts stores and elsewhere, supposed proper injectors, but at a price.
i remembered there is a performance chrysler shop near here that may have some laying around. that would be awesome if that works. i will be stopping by there shop on monday to ask about that. otherwise i am in a bind for lack of funds to do this.
Clean fuel injectors should be on regular base for peak engine performance. Dirty injectors will not be able to flow as much fuel as clean ones. The injectors need to be cleaned while it is creating some problems.
My 1990 Suburban with electronic fuel injection ran good. I kept adding Lucas fuel treatment/injector cleaner to my gas in it and after five tanks this Suburban started running much better with much more power. The Lucas product finally cleaned my injectors out.
In my Chevy Cavalier and my Honda Civic the Lucas fuel treatment has not made them run better, but they both ran like new before I used it in those cars.
Please stop waking up 1-3 year old threads. Especially if you have nothing important to add. It makes it a pain in the asss for people to keep up with new cointent. If you have a question, start a new thread.
