Default PT Cruiser underhood fuse access

Happy Easter! I'm on a hunt for the cause of my brake lights (but not the "third eye") failing. If it's a fuse that needs replacing, I can do that, but I'm a little tentative about the owners' manual instructions for access to the underhood fuses. How do you remove that flimsy plastic cover without breaking something? I so want to get at Fuse # 12 and see if that's the cause of my new problem. After removing the red positive jump start attachment, I pried at the edges of the cover a bit, but stopped. Any tips on removing this?
Thanks,
Linda
