Default T&C dvd problem

Hi. new here. i'm wondering what this problem is and if anyone knows how to fix it? A friend just bought an 08 town and country and the remote for the dvd doesn't seem to be working properly. it does have new batteries in it. idk if mayb its a programming issue. also when they plug in there own headphones to the rear dvd it they dont work. so idk if you need just the wireless headphones for that? any help is appreciated greatly. ALso is there a way to put the sound from the dvd over the factory speakers? they tried running an auxillary cord from the dvd unit to the radio but i'm unfamiliar with the 2008 T&Cs so thot id post here. thx.

DVD Audio headphones may not work due to the Video Entertainment System being in the wrong mode. In order for the headphones to function, the MODE button on the remote should be pushed and released until the mode changes to the “Video Entertainment System” and it starts playing. Headphones will now work. Once this procedure is performed, it should not occur again.
NOTE: If the above procedure was not successful:
a. Verify battery condition in remote control and headphones
b. Verify headphones are turned on
c. Point remote control at radio faceplate, not the display screen
