I Recently purchased a 2005 Town and Country (touring) from a toyota dealership. It worked great for about 3 months (6k miles) then the engine light came on. Everything seemed to be operating normaly so I took it to the dealership to have it checked out.
Dealer says that the code was for 'invalid skim Key". Says that the WCM had been replaced but not programmed and that when they programmed it they keys were wiped out.
He says that the keys I provided (p/n 04727351AB) will not reprogram and I need two new keys ($151 each).
Does anyone know how plausible this is? It seems to me that if the WCM was not programmed when replaced that it would not have worked for over 3 months. I have never used this particular dealerships service dept. I have used their sister dealer (GM) for years and always had great service there.
Thanks for your help.
