Default tyres.

Hi all, I was wondering if somebody more knowledgeable in this things could help me. I was wondering if any other vehicles wheels and tyres would fit my '03 grand voyager. Only I've been told that my 215/65R16s will only fit my car. Surely not? Why do I get the feeling that I'm being stiffed....

The size tire your car was built with is the correct size. Other sizes "might" fit and "might" work, but nobody has done the engineering and test work to verify that, so nobody is going to go out on a limb and recommend another size. There are things that are involved in engineering a car to a certain sized tire. These include ride and handling, wheel well clearance, speedometer calibration, fuel economy, acceleration performance, etc., etc., etc.

If you want to try some 19 inch wheels with some ultra-low profile racing tires, go for it, but don't be surprised or disappointed when something you didn't consider, like the tire rubbing on the frame, ruins your experiment.

thanks for that. was told by a mechanic that because it was an american car, the tyres were 'odd' and more expensive.
