I added many custom parts to my Miata,  The cone airfilter I addes made the engine more perky and also gave it a deeper exhaust sound.
Is there an air filter like that out there for my Crossfire? and if so Do you recommend modifing it?

Not to my knowledge because the air filters ( it has 2 ) are stored in the engine cover.

Needswings has developed a nice CAI for the Crossfire.  Check at TVT Design, or there is tons of info on crossfireforum.org about them and several DIYs for build your own.
