2006 pacifica, 3.5l. Cooling fans come on about 15 seconds after turning car on, even if it has been sitting all night. They do cycle off, but its like it has already reached high enough temp. for the fans to come on, when it hasn't been running. No codes. Is there a sensor that could cause this, or is this normal for this car.

Well, I was just wondering if anyone elses pacifica did this. Sarg, you have confirmed it. Don't you think it is strange it does that. Any other car I have ever driven, the fans don't come on until the temp gauge goes just above the midpoint of the gauge. Sarg, does yours come on after sitting overnight.

Yes .... the fan(s) have kicked on just after a cold startup..... and I did take specific note and wonder why. I don't have the answer though.

If the AC compressor is on at start up, I believe the fans will kick on regardless, even at startup. Has anyone noticed the postion of the AC switch at startup? Defroster,AC, AC Max, will all kick on the compressor and the fans. Out of curiosity, make sure the AC selector is "off" before start up and see if the fans kicks on. Just a thought.

have not checked that. Are we talking about the same fans(radiator cooling fans). My wife does leave the A/c on all the time. I will check that theory tonight.

Yes, radiator fans. I believe they kick on with the compressor, even if the car was just started.

United1, I can't believe it, you were right. I started the car up 6 different times, 3 with ac on, 3 with it off. when ac was on fans came on about 10 seconds after compressor kicked in. with it off, they would not come on, and I let it sit there and run, and then hit ac on, and they again came on about 10 seconds after compressor kicked in. Thanks man, I won't worry about it anymore. Sarg, you should check yours. My wife always kept the ac button on, and thats why they kept coming on. Thanks again united1, good call.
