1999 LHS climate control issue
 

1999 LHS with 135,000 miles. Climate control started acting up this past week.
AC and Heat and blend doors all seam to be functioning depending on the different modes and temperatures I set it at.

Issue is I like to have manual control so I can control the fan speed when I first get in the car on a hot day.

However I cannot put it in manual mode, when I do the display says it is in man ual mode but it functions as if it is still in auto mode. So I have no fan control and when I turn the control off the systems stays on....meaning the display goes dark and the systems stays on what ever setting it was on, fan blowing and everything. Like it is not turned off at all.. so the ac or heat is on all the time, fan only slows down when the correct temp is detected..so auto mode seams to be on all the time.

Any ideas??

I can get a remanufactured climate control from RockAuto, DORMAN Part # 599129 Reman, for $191.79 + $100 core. or should I be checking another module or relay?

since no response on this thread I did some more checking at other sites.
I replaced the temperature control faceplate and it did not fix the problem. Paid for some online advice and based on my issue I was advised to replace the BCM (Body Control Module).

Dealer wanted $680 to replace and then program the BCM.
I decided to pull it myself and send off to AES for rebuild. AES could not rebuild my unit so had to pay the difference to get a remanufactured unit. Spent $350 so far.

installed the rebuilt BCM.
Did not fix the temp control problem. Tested the control system as much as possible and it appears it works better, however the fan is blowing on high even when I turn the system off. the tech I paid said the fan controller could be faulty.

I now have two other issues;
1. no keyless entry, AES says the BCM needs to be programmed for my key fobs... why did they not do this for me..
2. power steering does not feel right, to hard to turn the wheel...dos the BCM have any control on this system?? I see some of these cars were optioned with variable control..

Blower motor resistor is for the fan and yes the Key fobs will need to be programed to the new BCM. no BCM has nothing to do with steering wheel controls

dealer or most auto parts stores should sell them
