2004 concorde heating problem

hi,

I have a 2004 Concorde with the 3.5L and had signs of a bad thermostat (the vehicle took a very long time to get to running temp). I recently replaced the thermostat with an aftermarket one from NAPA and everything seemed good for a few days. This past week the weather has been cold (20 degrees F) and the car engine will get to running temp while sitting but once I drive it drops back to cold ( when hooked to the OBDII reader while driving it does not get above 140’F). Is there a difference between Chrysler thermostats and aftermarket ones? Is it possible I just got a bad thermostat? Are there any other problems that may cause this that you are aware of?

Thanks .
Derek

also, is the coolant outlet from the block the upper rad hose or lower? ( is the thermostat keeping coolant in or preventing it from entering?)

Sounds like a bad thermostate even though it's new. If you feel the top and bottom hoses on the rad and they feel the same temp then the thermostate is no good..
