3.2 driveability issues

My wife broke her car tonite...2001 concorde 3.2. My wife said the car ran normal this morning until she got close to work. The car starting spitting an sputtering. I drove it this evening. The car was missing really bad an surging at stops. I got my foot in it a little bit an all it did was backfire out of the fuel injection. I would say just a minute later the car died an would not restart. I did try an restart it which it didnt. The check engine light is on well was on.. Its throwing a code via cycling the key P1391. Ive looked it up an not sure what it means. Any help would be appreciated as my own vehicle is now broke so we have 2 broken vehicles in the same nite an live out of town. Kinda screwed here.

Is there a way to inspect the timing belt without taking it apart. you know such as a inspection plate or cover?

You're going to have to take that front cover off to see the marks. It's not as hard as it looks. Take off the belts and the tensioner with the 3 13MM bolts holding it on. After that it's all 10MM bolts and one T-30 torx on the passenger side.

Yes its been awhile...my jeep gc went down also..so ive been working on that. Swapping over to a 5 speed...thats almost done. Time to start researching her car again....

Does the 3.2 come out from the top or the bottom?

No the timing belt broke, the belt is pretty much in shavings. With replacing the timing belt and getting the heads gone thru...it would be the same amount as replacing it with a used motor. I found a low mileage 78,000 mile motor for 800.00. Bought an were going to swap motors. Its ease of mind an all with doing it this way due to her car having 212,000 miles on it.
