99 300m motor swap

I have a 1999 chrysler 300m I bought a recked 2003 300M. I can get the car to start It will turn over but it won't start. Checked spark plugs and am not getting spark. Then I checked the cam and crank sensor and both of them are functioning just fine. any one have any insight

how did u check the cam and crank sensors i might ask?

Well I went by what the Chilton's book said both had power on the power side and then with someone in the car both gave a signal on the output side.

I also did some more online searching and it apears like Chrysler switched computers in 02 to a more advanced one and I need to switch the cam gear and The flywheel (I didn't switch them in the swap) Something with they have more teeth so the computer can make the car more fuel efficient. But the old computer cant read the different curve of the new one and hense don't start.

Anybody know anything in more detail or can confirm that this is indeed what is wrong

do u have the old motor still?

Try starting it with the CAM sensor unplugged.

Flywheel is different, Cam tonerings are different, and the Cam Sensors themselves are different...(Although there is a slight difference in appearence, I really dont know for sure if they will function properly or not)

As Kevin just mentioned.....Do you still have the old motor???? Buying this stuff can get expensive, and most junkyards wont "BREAK-UP" a running motor.

Since youre dealing with something used...with no real way of VERIFYING what year or system was used...The difference in computers is this... SBEC = Early.....NGC=Late...
SBEC has 2 big white plugs at PCM....NGC has 4 "Black " plugs at pcm.

I do still have the old motor i'm a bit reluctant to get rid of anything until the project is complete. I also do still have the donor car as it was a salvage vehicle. I also did double check it and it does have the four black plugs so it is a NGC and the old car is a SBEC.

I tried starting it with out the cam sensor and still the same thing

So It sounds like i am going to have to pull the motor back out of the car and change the flywheel and cam gear. Nothing like getting some more experience pulling a motor.

Thanks for your help
