!992 Chrysler new yorker 5th ave trunk wont shut
 

Hi yall
My batteries recently died in my 5th ave and I was in a rush, so I tried to close my trunk by slamming the trunk like you do with a normal car (my 5th has automatic trunk closing mechanism). After multiple slams the trunk eventually closed but now I'm having problems getting my trunk to close... has anyone had this issue before?

- The automatic closer still moves the bottom latch thingy (thing that looks like a hefty pop top that the top latch meshes with to close the trunk) when I push the button on the top latch, but for some reason that button is not getting activated when I close my trunk anymore
- is there any way to just disable the whole automatic latch system and convert it to just a normal trunk that just opens and closes normally?
