Ambient temperture sensor failure

Ok, so I have a 2000 300m that has no heat. The atc unit at first was dark, but found that wires on the back are loose. I ran the test and it came up with code 25 - "Ambient temperture sensor failure".

Here are my questions:

1. will this cause the no heat issue????

2. where the hell is the sensor located???

thanks

Dan

no it will not it just outside temp that's all. Check for low coolant first

coolant is up and car is running great, both heater hoses are warm, so I figure that the heater core is not plugged... Now I see that there is a small sensor near the fan switch, could that be blocked? Also the display panel does not show a temp, it only shows dashes.

ok, this may be a little strange, but, I also had a check engine light on for P0442, so i changed the gas cap, and pulled off the neg terminal for a couple of minutes. When I put the cable back on, I now have heat and everything is working great. I ran the test again on the atc unit and now got codes 26 & 36, which I'm guessing because I had unplugged the atc unit(code 36) while the car was running, and having cleaned the in-car temp sensor. Does anyone have an idea how to clear them? or do they clear after some time?
