a/c and radiator fans

Hi all. Please excuse me if I'm not too clear. This is my first post here and I hope I can get my point across. I just installed a new radiator and now I've noticed that the cooling fans are running on high speed and my a/c works when it feels like doing so. I can hear the engine speed increase when the sysytem is calling for a/c but the compressor will not kick in until the 4th or 5th try. Even if I shut off the a/c the fans still run on high.

I also gave the a/c a 12 oz. shot of refrigerant and it ran for about 1 minute then shut off and came back on several times and then nothing.

As far as I can remember the a/c and fans were working ok prior to the new radiator.

I even went to autozone for free diagnostic test which came back as a shorted or open cicuit in the transaxle or failure of transaxle control module.

Thanks for any help you can provide because I am certainly stumped.

Have the A/C Pressures checked by a competent Professional.....

On the High side A/C line is a "Pressure Transducer" which doubles as a High pressure cut-off. If that transducer were to show a Critical high pressure situation, the fans would default to High speed, and compressor would be "LOCKED-OUT"....

Now.... Is this "High PRessure" real? or the result of a sensor Malfunction?...There is no way of knowing without a gauge reading of both Hi And Low ports on the A/C.

Just for reference.....Blindly adding freon to a car is VERY DANGEROUS...

Thanks D-n-T. Very good reply. I made an appt. with an overly competent a/c specialist at least he said he was. I will find out and report back asap.

Thanks again!
