Noise Until 1500 RPM
 

I have a 2000 LHS with a little over 90,000 miles. Car was a gift from my grandfather. There's been a couple of things that I've had to fix already. The thing that I can't figure out on my own is this sound that I hear while driving under 1500 RPMs. When I first start the car there is no sound, as soon as I step on the gas there's a sound and the sound will be constant until I surpass 1500 RPMs. When I'm slowing down the sound won't occur unless I still have my foot on the gas a little bit. If I surpass 1500 RPMs and then let the car coast you don't hear the sound until I step on the gas under 1500 RPMs. The sound is hard to describe but to me it sounds like a bad bearing somewhere or like the engine is just running rough until I go past 1500 RPMs. I'm taking my car in Monday for some routine 90,000 mile maintenance and I'm going to have the mechanic try to figure it out but I would like an idea of what I might be dealing with before I take it in. My AC compressor ceased and had it replaced. I also had the V belt, serpentine belt, idler pulley, and tensioner pulley replaced. The previous noise is gone however, no I have a constant sound that sounds like a clicking at idle and like a weed eater when I'm accelerating. I've tried to trace the sound and it sounds like it might be coming from the front of the engine. Could this be something with the timing belt or any of the timing components? Car is at 90,000 miles, may be time to change the timing belt? Any help would be appreciated.

You are overdue for a timing belt replacement. 7yrs/100k interval and if it fails you will bend valves.
Water pump, timing belt idler bearing and belt should all be replaced. Whie the front is apart check the bearings for the belt idlers previously replaced.

Check that the hood release cable is properly routed and not to close to the alternator. Common cause of "weed eater" noise up front.
