Solenoid pack

I have a 2003 chrysler concorde 2.7L and purchased a remanufactured solenoid pack on ebay and just received it today. I haven't taken the old one off just yet so I can compare but my question is this remanufactured solenoid pack has a rattle type of noise, kinda like something is moving Inside the solenoid pack just by picking it up. Is that normal or not. I don't wanna Install it only to find out it doesn't work.

I believe its a check ball inside one of the valves

If its a check ball should it sounds like it's moving all around whenever I move the solenoid pack

There are check balls and other plunger valves within the assembly.

Ok so now I'm having a very hard time with removing the valve body. I have got the wire harness removed from up top the transmission. Now I'm trying to get the shifter to move clockwise so that the valve body will drop down once I remove the screws. The problem is I can't get it to move. Is there any tricks I can try.

Once you disconnect the shift cable, manually manipulate the lever as far Forward as it will go.
Remove the leer from the shaft, remove bolt, clean shaft (so it will slip thru the seal)
Drop the valve body : NOTE Two accumulator pistons and springs will come down with the valve body.
Can be a bit of a juggling act going back in.
When reinstalling be sure to "latch" the park pawl assembly as shown in image. One click past Park will latch it.

Thanks for all the responses. I managed to drop the valve body and replaced the solenoid pack. The reinstalled the valve body, accumulators went in their spots 1st then the springs. I got everything put back together, New transmission filter and transmission pan gasket. Put in new atf+4 fluid and made sure to keep checking the fluid level to get the correct level. I do know to check the level when it's warm. I took my car for a test drive and everything seemed good to go till after 15 minutes or so then I noticed a jerk when coming to a stop and then my code scanner read code 0841. Any ideas what could be wrong. Did I do something wrong, or get a bad solenoid pack (bought at Oreilyautoparts). My car didn't jerk before installing the new solenoid pack

was this your original issue? non of that info was ever given

Sm2123 04-25-2023 05:31 AM

The original issue was I had trouble shifting out of 2nd gear with a code of 0846. When I did have trouble I could shut the car off and restart it and it would work for maybe a day and sometimes just a few minutes. Transmission fluid wasn't low or brown or anything like that.

Now this morning there is a code 0775.
