Trunk Release

I have a 99 LHS, the interior trunk release button will not open the trunk. Also the keyless entry button will not open the trunk. The key and latch work fine.

Any suggestions for broken wires, relays, or other areas to consider to make a repair?

Trunk Release resolved.

The trunk release wiring had a break in the bk/wh wire in the trunk. In the trunk area, there is a bracket for preventing stress on the wires when opening the trunk. The engineers knew of the design problems as they even put a white plastic reinforcment in the wiring bundle under the electrical tape it's about 4" long. To repair, I just removed the harness from the plastic bracket at the lip of the trunk back by the hinge. I removed about 3" of tape an the wire (black / White stripe) just fell out. I resoldered and pulled back some harness length from in the trunk and taped it back up. Remote and Interior release both work fine now.

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Trunk latch remedy

Thanks Nahts! I had exactly the same experience with my '99 LHS and tried your solution. Hesitantly, I unwrapped what looked to be perfectly good wiring and found the same two broken wires. A simple fix for an irritating problem. I'm now over 278,000 miles with the original engine and transmission...it's been a great car. Thanks again for sharing.

nice to hear you'll break 300k miles :) I just bought a concorde with 222k miles. unfortunately I don't think the transmission is going to hold out to 280K.

I have a similar trunk problem. Where is this problem area located in the trunk?
Thanks
