I've been charged with trying to sell the family 1968 Newport 4-Dr Sedan, and would appreciate some guidance from forum members on setting a sales price or reserve for auction.

This is really a little old lady's car - it belonged to my Grandmother, who drove it until 1984 just to the supermarket and the Doctors'. It made two round-trips from Southern California to the Midwest in 1968 and 1969, and was driven only locally since then.

It has been garaged since purchase (as new) in 1968. It has 40,632 original miles.

The bodywork is in fantastic shape with no rust. There was a small fender-bender in the late 1970's that required a bit of sheet-metal straightening of the hood and re-spray, but that is it - no other bumps, dings, bends, etc. Exterior chrome is in generally very good shape for a 40-year-old car.

Drive train is fine. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly and well.

The power steering master cylinder leaks, a lot, but could probably be repaired by someone with some skill.

The A/C circuit has a leak and is empty. It uses the old-style A/C refrigerant which is expensive and environmentally evil, so we haven't repaired it.

The interior is all original, and in great shape apart from one small cigarette burn on the front bench. (Yes, it was a smoker's car.)

Water pump was changed about 4 years ago.

Brakes and tires are of recent vintage and fully roadworthy.

Color: metallic turquoise blue exterior / turquoise blue interior.

Any ideas? I've seen crappy examples online for low-thousands and collectors' models for $16k plus - I'm sure this car is somewhere in between, but no idea where.
