Infinity Amp

My 2001 Grand Voyager stereo was faulty (no sound) so I removed it for repair but the repair shop I gave it to said the stereo is alright and they think my Voyager has an amp fitted somewhere and that is whats faulty.

Anyone know where it could be fitted as I had a quick look today but there was no sign of it.

This is a UK spec 2001 grand Voyager.

Thanks all.

we have a 95 jeep grand cherokee and it has infinity system with pre amp and power amp, the secondary amp was under the passenger side rear seat, maybe yours is closely placed

Thanks for that. I had a quick look under the seat and behind the dash where the head unit fits but i couldn't see it.
I have now been told each speaker may have an amp fitted to them but i haven't had time to remove panels etc to get to one.
I am working on the assumption that if that was right then only the speaker with the faulty amp would not work and the rest would.

amp location

I Belive there is a amp built into each speaker, they are switched on by the NBS relay in the fuse box in the engine bay.The relay is switched on by the chrysler radio,if you fit an after market radio you must find a way to switch this relay on. good luck.

hi, i think i have the same problem with my 2000 grand voyager as when i connect speakers up there is nothing until i touch one single wire to power then there is a relay click and then sound so i think im on the right track but central locking is playing up, any ideas?

i have wired the relay wire to a switchable live from cig lighter, this means the amp is on when ever the key is turned, i dont see this as a problem as my stereo is always on while i drive anyway. the only other way i can think of is to wire a relay into speaker wire, when the stereo is played it will send minute voltage to the relay switching it on, you would have a perminant live through the relay to amp relay thus the amp system would become live only when music was played. not sure if it would work but just a thought:)

Does anyone know how to wire up a hd radio in a 300m with an infinity sound system? I get no sound at all.
