VES/DVD/Movies on HDD

NooB here. Just bought a 2014 T&C. I looked through the forum but wasn't able to find the answer to my question. I see that I can play DVDs but is there a way to just put some movies (MKV, MP4, AVI formats) straight on the HDD and play through there? I put some on USB stick and plugged it in but system didn't find any. After reading a bit through manual, I gathered that one can only put MP3 format on HDD. Is that correct? Any way of getting around that? I would hate to burn movies back on DVDs after getting rid of all the dvds and going all digital media. Thank you.

bhav111, are you trying to play a movie in the front consol on the screen? If so, I hope you realize it's not supported as it's a very serious saftey concern.
The reason DVD is in the sales code is to allow audio from DVD's as well as CD's. Unless your vehicle has rear screens in the back, you'd need to put in a physical DVD as pirated/burned disks will not work.

So will a flash drive with media work?

I understand the implications of safety and having the front screen having a movie running. I guess the question still remains can you have a flash drive full of movies that can be formatted to play on second row seating screen. Has anyone had any success in doing this? If so please enlighten us to the format of flash drive or the process.
