Default DC Recalling Nearly 600K Vehicles.

Was anyone affected by this?

Chrysler announced two major recalls Friday. The first involves about 300,000 vehicles with a transmission defect that can prevent the driver from putting the shifter in “Park.” The recall affects some 2005 model year Jeeps, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum, Dodge Durango, and Dodge Dakota/Misubishi Raider pickups.

The second recall affects about 283,000 Dodge Ram pickups from the 2003-2005 model years equipped with diesel engines and automatic transmissions. Apparently the shift lever may not engage “Park” if the driver does not fully place the lever in the “Park” position, allowing the car to roll away. Dealers will install an alarm alerting drivers if they try to exit while the engine is running and the car is not in “Park.”
