0016 engine code
 

Ok I have a 06 4 cylinder Chrysler Sebring and I checked my codes and p0016 came up. I researched it and saw it was my crankshaft sensor. So I went bought a new one and replaced it. Well the code came back then I saw it also means camshaft sensor. So today I replaced it with a new one. The code came back again. I don't know what else to check on that code? I said that the pcm may not be able to read the sensors how do I know if that's the case?

when was last time you replaced your timing belt?

hi. I bought it 2 weeks ago. My friend's mom sold it to me thinking it just needed a tune up. so I honestly don't know. Couldthat be it? Also it still occasionally dies if I turn the steering wheel tofarto either side or as I am parking

Okay. We have an 11 year-old car with an unknown maintenance history. You have not specified mileage but it's likely that the car has over 100,000 miles on it. That timing belt is probably overdue for replacement. If it's a little stretched or the tension is a little weak or if it has jumped a tooth, then the relationship between the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor could be off which sounds a lot like that description of that code.
The car could also be in need of some basic maintenance, like engine oil change, transmission oil change, coolant change, power steering fluid change, maybe even brake fluid change. And it could need a tune-up too: New spark plugs.
Before you spend any big money replacing something like the engine computer, take care of all the routine maintenance stuff and see how it responds.

I second that. and guessing at spark plugs for the code p016 why ?? read the code read what causes the code then make an educated choice to what should be done.
