02 2.7 Conv starts, stalls imediately

I have a 02 sebring conv limited with 2.7. It will start, but then stalls right after. Everynow and then will run, but when I shut off... back to the same prob. Also, sometimes it won't even try to engage starter, not even a click. Wait a few, and back to the same story of run then stall. New battery. Also, how do you pull the codes on this car without a reader? I know, I need to go get a book on it. That will be tomorrow. I just aquired this car, so I know nothing of its history. Has 87000. Any insight into this will be greatly appreciated.

you need a scanner to pull codes. does the check engine light come on before it stalls?

RE: 02 2.7 Conv starts, stalls imediately *SOLVED*

I have discovered the craziest thing by chance. There are 2 keys, one factory, and one made by chrysler later. The factory key will start the car and run all day long. The "later" key will start it, but stall immediately. Apparently, it thinks it is being stolen, and shuts down. I guess I will just use the factory key.
Thanks for the insight!

Attitude,

I'd suggest you bite the bullet and get a second copy of the OEM type key. There is an RFID chip in the head that works with the on-board electronics to help you keep your car. It's a lot less expensive and confusing to get the key now instead of after you've lost that one.

The system is called Sentry Key BTW.
