02 sebring lx power windows

I am having a weird problem with my windows, they won't go down using either switch (I have the convertible) driver or passenger side. The weird thing about this is when I push the switch for the windows the light for the rear defroster comes on in my dash while i hold the button down. I don't know if this always has happened but just recently noticed it after the windows stopped working, also the light comes on when I am putting the top up or down. any ideas what this could be?

wanted to add in I checked all the fuses and none are blown have had this problem for a while and have actually replaced all fuses just to be sure. Also the windows were working strange before this happened, I remember them going down not working then when I went to drive home they went right up. It was kinda like that for a few days where they would work, for a while they wouldn't, then they would work again until they went completely dead. I was thinking motor but if it was the motor why would it affect both sides at the same time? doesn't each side have an independent motor? this also got me thinking it wasn't the switch because again both sides same time. Any ideas would really help. I heard something about two wires that sometimes wiggle loose in the driver side door boot. Any known problems like that?

just to help out anyone who's been looking and has a similar problem on here I did find out that it is a common problem for wires in the door boot (Black plastic piece running between door and rest of car) to break or loosen due to flexing. if anyone on here is having a similar problem I would suggest getting in there and checking for loose or broken wires.
