07 Sebring 2.4L PO302 and PO300 codes

Hello there im new to the Chrysler world so I need a little help here. I fix all my own vehicles. SO FAR ! Im pretty mechanically inclined but I havnt owned a mopar product since my old beater of a chrysler new port back in the 80s. I just bought an 07 sebring with a 2.4L engine and im pulling PO300 and PO302 codes. I know what they mean but Im not sure where to start. I know checking the plugs and wires is the easiest and cheapest but then what? one more thing I might add is the dealership soaked the engine down with water while cleaning the engine. I looked for maybe a wire got knocked of somewhere but I havnt found anything yet. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Is it really misfiring or are the codes just there? It could be that after they soaked down the engine it misfired a bit until it warmed up and then dried out and ran ok, but the codes are still there. If it's actually misfiring, it's related to cylinder #2 so ckeck the plug and wiring there first very carefully. A little rust on a connector could be affecting the spark. If you're sure the spark is good, it could be fuel injector related. Start with the injector wiring.

it is still miss firing so your plan of attack will be my morning plans for tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

Well, assuming the 2.4L uses coil-on-plug, there are only two things you can replace to fix this problem. The spark plugs, and the coils. If the problem still persists, there might be a compression problem of some sort, or maybe oil is leaking into the cylinder causing the plugs to misfire. If it's the latter, you would know once you changed the plugs.

Fixed! It was a bad plug and a bad coil. Thanks for the info
