1998 Chrysler Sebring Lxi - Battery dies every morning

Hey guys,

I just bought a sebring and drove it home, the next morning the battery went dead and I went and bought a new battery. When I installed the new battery the car started again but overnight it went dead. I then recharged the battery to full and it worked again. The next morning it went dead. As far as I know all lights and air conditioning are off so I have no idea what the problem is.

Is there any common problem that drains the battery in these models.
I don't think its the alternator as I didn't drive it the third time, just started it and turned it off.

I really need this problem solved as soon as possible as I will miss work for the next week, until the problem is solved.

u need a wire diagram a volt meter with amp capability down to 35mili amps
U then put in series the amp meter and the - battery cable until u see the amp draw settle down about 10 min then u start pulling fuses to see what circuit the draw is on

Hey Kevin!

Hey Kevin, thanks for the reply.

I am really bad at cars and was wondering could you send me on some screens of where the main fuse components are located in the 1998 model.

Am I right to rule out the alternator problem (as i did not drive it the third time).

Also is there any problem you remember from the past that was similar to this.

there is nothing that will be ahh yes that will do it and u will need to buy a wire diagram and do what I posted the first time if this is something that U can no do then let a professional take care of it.

Hi joconnor1989, just do as CHRYSLER TECH says - no one will tell you more and especially exactly what to do. Its just a troubleshooting and this one is very simple. Fuses could be under the steering wheel, under the hood and/or behind the left panel between the driver door and all dash. I know that there is some software for US cars as we do have for EU cars (Autodata, Tolerance data, etc.), I dont remember the name, but maybe the CHRYSLER TECH would know this program. I am sure there would be all fuses location and names. I had that program, several DVDs...

Hi, if your baterry dies at nite is becausse you are using the consumming the battery, you say that the lights are off an night. but something is using the electricity of your battery. The first thing to check is the Amps that are circulating with the car turned off.

just disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and then connect an multimeter in serie (batery - multimeter - cable) and check how many milliamps are circulating. if everything is off on the car then you should have about 15milliAmp at max I guess. mif yiu get much more than that is becausse something is doing a circuit break or maybe som accesory is on without you noticing it.

you can try getting out the fuses to check if the car continues consumming all that Amps. and find where is the problem... sometimes happes that the some cable is touching the any metal part of the car and then the baterry drains fast.

If you are not good at this kind of things, just find a professional to do it.
