1999 Chrysler Sering Coupe LXI

car is driving me and mechanics nuts, it will run sometimes then when I go to start it it just keeps cranking over, replaced distributor cap and rotor still not has same problem. you can let it set overnight then it will start. anyone ever had this problem? some say replace the computer or distributor no error codes show up when hooked to test systemher
we also tried the light on fuel injector none and no spark

6 cyl

No spark and no impulse to the fuel injector. Does that car have an ASD (auto shut down) relay? You might want to check that.

1999 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXI

not sure if it has one, is there a way to check? it has a security system on it also:confused:

I believe it has one, but I don't know where it is on that vehicle. If it is in the fusebox or power distribution center, then it should show up in the owners manual. Autozone may have a wiring diagram online.
The coupe is a very different animal from the convertible and sedan. The coupe is built by Mitsubishi and has almost nothing in common with its stablemates.
Hopefully a coupe owner will chime in here with some help.

1999 Chrysler Sebring LXI (Mitsubisi Engine 6 cyl)

I swapped the ASD relay (EAUX)with one of the other relays ..there are 3
and since the car starts ok now but sometimes when I am driving it it just completely goes dead (power's off) but if I hit the gas pedal it comes back to life...
Has anyone else run into this problem?
Thanks.
Ron

Now that you know that relay was bad, why not put in a new one? Since hitting the gas pedal seems to get the car going again, maybe there's a problem with the throttle position sensor. It's the only thing connected to the gas pedal. If it has a dead spot, it might be tricking the computer into shutting the system down.

Where too now?

all new, 3 relays (ASD Fuel pump EAUX) and new throttle body positioner and it still just quits running like today I took it for a ride and once again everything just goes dead so I put in neutral while is was still rolling, i re started it so I kept the rpms up even when I stopped a a sign and made it home. Car sat for a couple hours I started it back up and while it was sitting idling it shutdown again and now just cranks without starting.

Interesting...went out to start car (it had been starting ok for several days) but decided
Thursday it would only crank over and not start. So while I was in the car I used my security remote and locked the doors with it then opened them and the car started up...
LMAO this thing is possessed...

rocketvdo 07-17-2009 10:04 PM

Once again I started car (cold engine) ran for few minutes then just died (no code) and would not re start...tried the security on off on but this time car did not start, found a old key (had it made years ago so it's in better condition and the car started..
possessed car strikes again.
I also checked the gas cap made sure it was not plugged but noticed when I pushed my finger into the fill hole gas pressure came out....normal?
