1999 Jxi with P0205
 

I have a 1999 sebring jxi with 2.5L that started running rough after a 20 min eway drive after I exited and stopped at a light 2 miles from eway. Pulled into a friends drive with an OBD reader and it is generating a p0205 code only. Looks like that is an open injector circuit #5. I so far have checked compression, new plugs, resistance on wires, resistance on injectors, clicking of injectors by applying 12 volts. All injectors have fuel on both ends of them. I also hooked up test light to each injector wire to check pulse signal to injectors. All that I have found in Chilton service guide seems to tell me all is within spec and operating properly. Is there anything else I should check before I put the intake manifold on and try running the vehicle again.

As long as you have it all apart, you might as well pull the injectors and give them a good cleaning. Check the condition of the O-rings and replace any that are marginal. There are several instructional videos on youtube about cleaning fuel injectors, some better than others. Best to do it outside to avoid burning down the garage.

So I also did compression test and made sure injectors were clean and checked grommets and o rings all looking good. Re-installed intake manifold all plugs and sensor wires and negative battery terminals. Started up vehicle and it ran perfect for about twenty minutes. Turned it off and back on all seeming well. Also reading no codes. I shuffled some vehicles around to take it for a test ride. I started it up put it in reverse, went about 3 feet and it started running bad again. Also throwing the same p0205 code. PCM next ? Looks like they're about $200 online ?

I think I'd hold off on swapping the PCM. Make sure you've eliminated all the cheaper stuff first:

I've done everything except 6 & 7 on the list. and the injector is actuating and there is the same voltage pulse coming through the clip that snaps onto it and all the other 5 feed wires.

If the same voltage is coming through the clip then I wouldn't blame the PCM, because it's doing what it's supposed to do. Did you switch the injectors around? Did the fault stay at the same cylinder? If so, I'd suspect the clip itself or its connection to the wiring. If the fault followed the injector, then the injector is bad.
I have heard that it's wise to replace all of the injectors if one is bad. Maybe somebody else has an opinion on that.
