The disributor also contains the camshaft position sensor, which is another source of trouble. If it were bad at the present, it should generate a code. So it's probably good, but who knows how long it will last?
It's really up to you...do you plan on keeping the car for a while?...is money tight right now? Those are the kind of things only you can answer. Let us know how it works out. |
Thanks for the insight. I do plan to keep the car for a few more years at least. It only has 93k on it. :o/
I went ahead and ordered a new distributor. I'll let you all know how that goes tomorrow. Thanks, Rick |
New distributor solved the problem. Thanks for the help guys.

Don't you just love happy endings?

Yeah - once I got over the cost of the thing..... but in all fairness it does have a lot of parts inside it and so I've got to remember that the entire ignition system as well as the cam sensor are now brand new (I didn't go with a reman) and should be trouble free for a good long time.
I can't say I'm too happy with the reliability of this particular Sebring. It has 93k on it and in the last 6 months I've replaced the transmission, radiator, and distributor. The car is neither high mileage nor particularly old. I don't abuse it and I do maintain it per the maintenance intervals listed in my owners manual. I can't say that I would be comfortable with another Mitsubishi based vehicle. Rick |
