2.5L Tune-up Questions

I bought my car used with just under 80,000 miles on it. It now has just over 96,000. As I near the century mark and roll over into six-digits, I am thinking of a major tune up. The car was well maintained, but I'm not sure of exactly what was done. I have replaced the belts already, as they were looking rather dry and worn. I've switched from regular to Royal Purple synthetic 5W-30 oil (which that litte engine just loves) and a 99% efficiency filter. But, for now, that's it. The tranny is running and shifting fine, and I want to keep it that way, so a fluid/filter replacement (will switch to Royal Purple ATF or Mopar ATF+4), and band adjustment is coming soon.

The main thing I need advice on, however, is the ignition system. I'm sure the plugs are original, and after 100,000 miles, they've got to be weak (although the ones in my truck lasted 208,000!!!). I've heard that this car is picky about it's plugs. I want something with a higher spark output for a more powerful explosion and better performance and mileage... I also will be replacing the wires and coil. I've considered going to an MSD setup, or atleast a high output coil like Accel. But, if this car is that picky, what can I do without making it all quirky?

I was thinking ofChampion platinum plugs, 8mm wires, and like I said, atleast an Accel high output coil if not an MSD setup... What do you guys think?
