2001 sebring 2.7 liter engine problems

I have read alot about the 2.7 engine and its problems. they seem to be limited to the 97 through 02 engines. Is there any alternative to simply replacing this engine and has chrysler fixed the issue in newere engines. can i use the 3.2 or 3.5 instead? or is a late model 2.7 safe. i have to fix mine and I am trying to decide. I have acess to good used engines and parts.

RE: 2001 sebring 2.7 liter engine problems

I just finished a swap. I put a 2004 engine into a 2001 Sebring Conv. It runs great. There are alot of thing that need to be swaped out for it to work. The 01 has the sbec controller and the 04 has the ngc controller. So it will work.I bought an engine with 16000 miles on it. I read all this stuff on these 2.7 engines. So I am using Castro 5w 30 with a half can of sea form for the extra detergent to help keep it clean. I will change it ever 2500 miles. I am hoping this will be fine. I bought the low mileage engine so it was clean from the start. So if you need help email me and I will fill you in on what you have to do. rjasp2000@yahoo.comthanksRuss

hello guys!
I bought an engine couple months ago-Because my engine was knocking from bottom - the new engine is 45k miles and i replaced it in shop.But i have several problems that i couldnt fix it aroun 4 months.My engine does not go over 2500 engine.Probably Limp mode on ? do you have any idea about it? And my engine light turned on.Camshaft Crankshaft and oxygen sensors are read.Even i replaced it the engine light didnt turn off.Camshaft sensor still comes back.And one my friend who is mecanics told me that you should check you timing chain ? is it possible ? or when i investigated on internet , some people have different comments about it ; all of possibilties are ;

1-Limp Mode
2-MAF sensor doesnt work
3-ECM - should try to get ECM codes off
4-Camshaft and Crankshaft or Timing chain and Tensioner problems
5-Timing misaligment
6-Wiring harness
7-Fuel Pump problem
8-Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
9-Catalytic Converter
10-Throttle Linkages

What do you think about it ??
