2001 Sebring Sedan, 2.7 eng..TOP or BOTTOM

Haynes book says for home mechanic: Do not try to remove the engine on a Sebring Coupe. It must be removed from the bottom side.

Does anyone out there know about the Sedan model. Can the engine be removed from the top side with an engine hoist? (I didn't say it would be easy)

I have a few questions for you..... (I am being serious here)

Is the car paid for?

Do you have any money saved up?

Is your credit good enough to buy a car?

Get rid of that thing. Don't spend any more money on it, just let it go. Go buy another car and get rid of the headache.

Oh yeah I forgot. Take it out the bottom. The top will be hell and no telling what you'll accidentally break while trying.

2001 Sebring engine removal

Thanks TNtech. I have a "bullheaded" streak in me (I call it perseverance), but I think I will take your advice. It is a "grandpa" job but I am older and supposed to be wiser and this may be my chance to show-off the wiser part. Thanks, Joe

Well, if this gives you any idea. I have a 2001 with a blown engine sitting in my driveway as we speak. Looking for an engine but cheapest I found is used for $1400. That's a joke to me. They know they're in demand and they rape you on them at the salvage yards.

I removed mine top side with a hoist yesterday. It was easy once everything was disconnected and 2 other people helped.

So tell us about it. Which model? Which engine? Did you take any pix? If not, take some when the new engine goes back in and post 'em up.

First post, first line, said it was 2001 Sebring Sedan with 2.7 engine.
I read all the posts from the Chrysler techs and my conclusion:
I am brave; but life is too short for me to try this one. I have an engine hoist but no lift to remove it from the bottom side.
Thus, no pictures. Joe
