2002 Sebring sedan door handle prob

Hi all,

My wife just informed me her inside drivers side door handle wasn't working. I went out, pulled it and it just out (loose and limp) without opening the door. Any suggestions on how to start on this one? Many thanks.

Remove the door trim panel. There's supposed to be a link that connects the inside handle to the latch mechanism. That probably got disconnected somehow. There's a little clip that is supposed to keep the parts together. If it's broken or missing, you'll need to replace it. Probably set you back 50¢ or so.

Thanks. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow.

Ok, no such luck on just having a linkage to handle retainer prob. The dang handle itself is broken (plastic) by the spring assembly on the handle.

Does anyone have a good idea on where to pick up a replacement at a reasonable price? Thanks. I'll attempt to post a picture. Gulp!

Best hope is a local junkyard. Failing that, scour eBay. Search for Sebring parts and see if you can find somebody parting out a car. He may not advertise the door handle but is probably more than willing to sell you the handle if he's got one. Maybe you can luck out and find a set of chrome (metal) ones off a higher trimline vehicle.
If all else fails, go to chryslerparts.net and pay the (slightly) discounted dealer price.

When searching the salvage market, keep in mind that a Dodge Stratus part should fit. Coupe parts won't.

Thanks dcotter. I just called my local dealer and they quoted me $107.00 which is the entire bezel/handle assy. Sounds reasonable and since they asked me for my VIN number, I feel confident it's the correct one.

Thanks for the help. Piece of cake 45 minute job. I ended up purchasing a new interior handle/bezel assy from my local Chrysler dealer. It took two days to arrive after they ordered it from Denver. Was quoted $107.00 however they (for some reason) gave me a 20% discount and with my $10 off any purchase card they gave me last time, it was $81.00 out the door! Can't beat that.
