Default 2016 chrysler 200 loose gas cap

This morning as I began to drive I got the loose gas cap indicator light. I pulled over and made sure it was tightened. It says to clear the light to reset the odometer, I reset both trip A and B but the light never goes off. I haven't filled up my tank since 5 days ago and it's still pretty much filled, due to me only driving a few miles a day since then. That's why I was surprised that it all of a sudden came on today. No check engine or mil light just the loose gas cap light. How do I reset the light or should I just give it a few cycles to see if it goes off before going to the dealer to get a new cap.

Hi Msmparker83,

If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Before you go to the dealer, take off the gas cap and inspect the gasket very closely. Make sure that there is nothing sticking to it. A little piece of debris or dirt can affect the seal. Then inspect the mating surface on the fill opening. Won't cost anything. Can't hurt. Might help.
