2004 Sebring 2.7 Accellerator pedal not working
Well, here it goes:
My wife's car (see title/sig line) has decided that it doesn't want to accelerate anymore. Last night as she was pulling into the property, the pedal just simply did nothing to increase RPM/vehicle speed. Zero response. The car did not stall, and she explained it as "it was like the care was off", but it was still running. She pulled over, put it in park, then cycled all the gears, still nothing when she attempted to rev it in any of the gears. She did say that the gears engaged tho, so I don't think it's a tranny problem. Caveat 1: She later revealed that the CE light had been coming on and off intermitantly over the last 6 months, but she didn't notice anything unusual. And by "unusual" she means sounds/ vibrations. Caveat 2: When I asked her for further details, she also stated that it had been idling rough and almost stalled a few times at stops, especially when the AC is on. She just revved it and kept driving... The vehicle has had regular maintenance, but I'm unsure of the dates / types of the services performed as we only married 1.5 yrs ago... I know I have maintained all the basics (fluids, tires, brakes/brake system, filters). The only code it threw today at AutoZone was the P0441 Evaporator Purge Failure. I'm thinking it's got to be a fault in the Throttle Position Sensor, but want to make sure before I go out an buy one and a volt meter to test. So, any ideas? |
will the cable still move at the throttle body?

a sensor would more then likely give a code for it not working right can U duplicate the issue yourself ? if U cont no point in throwing stuff at it.
